Subhreet Kaur Ghumman is a beautiful girl from Punjab, India. She was a good dancer in her teenage. One day she was going somewhere by bike with her friend. Unexpectedly the bike skidded and both fell down. Her knee was injured. It was a minor fracture. She joined a government hospital for the treatment. The doctors kept her on a bed for 15 days without doing an operation. This was their first mistake. While doing the operation, mistakenly the doctor cut an important vein. It was the second mistake. It started bleeding severely. They stopped the bleeding with a lot of difficulties and postponed the operation. Then infection started in her leg and gradually it spread up to her knee. Finally, the doctors had to amputate her leg. Due to the doctors' negligence, Subhreet lost her leg. To amputate her leg, Subreet had to pay 7 lack rupees (10000 US dollars). It was another burden to her.
But Subhreet did not lose her courage. She started reading a lot of books about disabled achievers. Those books gave her ideas hopes and inspiration to achieve her own dreams. She started dancing at her home. She decided to apply for the top television show "India’s Got Talent".
Subhreet friends started ignoring her. Some people showed sympathy. But she didn’t want pity. She decided not to fall into darkness. She decided to show the world that she was a strong person and continue her passion for dance. Her mother was shocked but happily agreed to support her.
Subhreet understood she needed the suggestions of a dance trainer. She tried to join dance studios around her home but she was rejected because of her disability. But a dance Academy in Chandigarh accepted her. She got excellent training there. She worked hard for one year. With a lot of patience, she practiced dance with one leg.
Finally, Subhreet got a chance to participate in "India’s Got Talent". She amazed the judges and crowd. The show has changed her life. A subtree is now a celebrity in her hometown. Her dance studio is full of well-wishers and supporters. Now she is a dancer and a motivational speaker. She participated in many TV shows.
She said: ‘My life has changed completely. I have seen the darkest days but now everything seems beautiful. People recognize me when I go out, they ask me for photographs and autographs. It is an amazing feeling.
Sometimes our life may become completely upside down by an unexpected event. But we should not worry. If we have courage and confidence, we can overcome all misfortunes. We can start a new life. We can lead a successful and happy life. Subhreet's life is an example of that.
