Once upon a time in Armenia

Armenia is a country between Asia and Europe. In 1989, a terrible earthquake destroyed Armenia. It killed over 30,000 people in less than 4 minutes. In that horrible situation, a father left his wife safely at home and ran to the school to get his son. But the school was completely collapsed to the ground. In the past, the father made a promise to his son "No matter what happens, I will always be there for you." He looked at the rubble in front of him. Tears filled his eyes. He kept remembering his commitment to his boy. "I will always be there for you." In the morning, he left his son in his classroom. But now it is difficult to find that classroom. Every building, every classroom, and everything was broken and fallen to the ground. It was a confusing situation. Using some measurements, he understood the exact location of his son's classroom. But now it did not look like a classroom. It was a collection of broken walls and scattered bricks. He rushed t...

One sentence that changed his life

There was a young man "William Osler". He was a medical student at the Montreal General Hospital in Canada. He used to worry about everything. He was regretful about the mistakes he did in the past. He was worried about the wrong things he did. He was worried about the insults he got. He was worried about the losses that damaged his life. He was worried about passing the final examination in the future. He was worried about what to do. He was worried about where to go. He was worried about how to build up a practice. He was worried about how to make a living. He was always in a depression. He was worried about the bitter experiences that happened in the past. And he was always horribly afraid of the future. He was always worried about everything and everywhere. In the spring of 1871, one day he went to a library and opened a book written by Thomas Carlyle. While reading the book, he found a sentence. He was attracted to that sentence. He was surprised by that senten...

An old woman at a night

Twenty years ago, I used to drive a cab for a living. Once I got a phone call. They said I should pick up a passenger from a building. I reached that building at midnight. It was dark except for a single light in a ground-floor window. In this kind of situation, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, then drive away. They don't wait more time. But I know that taxis are the only transportation for some people at midnight. So I don't say "no" to any passenger at midnights. Now this passenger in the building might be someone who needs my assistance. So I walked to the door and knocked. "Just a minute," answered a weak female voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a hat, like somebody out of a 1940s movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived i...

I have decided to choose one of you. Today I am going to give a SEED to each and every one of you. It is a very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here after one year, with what you have grown from the seed. Then I will judge the plants that you bring. I will select the best plant. Then I will make the person, who grew that best plant, as the CEO of this company. Jim was also an employee in that company. All employees were given seeds including Jim. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil, and compost, Then Jim planted the s...
