A poor girl who became the world's Richest self made woman

Zhou Qunfei was born in acute poverty at a village in China. Her father became blind in an industrial accident. Her mother died when she was just five years old. To run the family, she left home in her teenage and started working in a glass-processing factory. She used to shape glass for watches. After a few months of working, she gave a resignation letter to the boss. The boss was impressed with her English and her style of expressing her thoughts on a piece of paper. Instead of accepting the resignation letter, the boss promoted her as the head of a new department in the same factory with a big salary. After some time, she became the director of the whole manufacturing operation.
In 1993, Zhou Qunfei left that company and started her own company "Lens Technology". Her initial investment for her company was 3000 US dollars. It was her savings of many years of hard work. At that time, her age was 22. She invented a new technology called "Scratch-resistant glass". The glasses made by Lens Technology do not get scratches easily.
Gradually her company has grown in size and area including 10 subsidiary companies all across China.
Zhou says. "A business rival was jealous. That company joined hands with my raw material supplier and made a plot. They tried to kill my business. The raw material supplier demanded full payment before delivering any materials. It was a big shock to me.
I sold my house and other valuable things to meet the supplier's demands, but my money was still was not enough.
I was desperate. I understood I lost my company. I wanted to end all the problems. I thought committing suicide was the best solution. I stood on the railway platform at Hung Hom Station in Hong Kong. I was ready to jump in front of a train. Suddenly my phone rang. It was my daughter's call. I started thinking. I realized that for my family and employees, I should not give up. I strongly decided to do an adventure with my business competitors. I consulted many companies. Finally a company Motorola helped me. With their help, I overcame the crisis. And I faced countless problems in developing my business."
In 2015, she became the richest woman in China with 7 billion dollars. Today her company has more than 60,000 people. The value of her property is 9.8 billion US dollars. Now she is the richest self-made woman in the world.
The glasses used in the products (mobile phones, tablets, etc) of Tesla, Apple, HTC, Nokia, Huawei, and Samsung are made by Lens technology. And many more big companies use the glasses of Lens technology.
In an interview with CNBC, Zhou Qunfei said "The reason for my success is Perseverance. I have encountered many difficulties and setbacks as an entrepreneur. If I had given up then, there would not have been Zhou Qunfei or Lens Technology. Many people experience a serious blow to their confidence when they face setbacks. But the key to success is to face them with courage and continue your adventure. "
